The past few weeks have been a whirlwind, you guys. In that time I heard about, was encouraged to apply for, applied for, interviewed for, was offered and accepted a new job. That is A LOT to have happen so quickly, and it’s why I’ve been super distracted from blogging.
I’ll be happy to share more about the new gig once I’m settled in, but for now you can join my excitement in that it’s an advancement all the way around: better title, better money, better opportunities.
As happy as I am about all that, I’m also a bit heartbroken to leave the newspaper. That was a cool, fun job that allowed me to work with cool, fun people. And not that I’m a writer for the accolades, but reporting for a major metro daily paper is kind of a big deal, and I really loved feeling like I was part of something special. I’m going to miss that feeling, and seeing my friends every day.
I’m confident I’ve made the right decision. Nobody can take my time at the paper away from me, and in 100 years someone might see my byline in a digital archive somewhere, proving that I was there. (How weird of a thought is THAT??) But it’s time for a new adventure. I have a week to decompress before the fun begins. At least one of those days will be with the book, which is still constantly on my mind. You’ll hear about that progress as it happens, too.
Here’s to new beginnings! Cheers!
